EPO express is a web based service for applicants who want to file their national or regional patent application at the European Patent Office

This is an easy way for you to file your patent application at the European Patent Office. This service is directly provided by a team European Patent Attorneys

The founders of EPO express are European Patent Attorneys. For applications filed at the Europen Patent Office they are not brokers or intermediaries. Their services are governed by the code of professional conduct of the European Patent Institute. However, if you entrust EPO express additionally with filing of your application in a different jurisdiction than that of the European Patent Convention, then they stay responsible towards you and will instruct a foreign patent attorney on your behalf.

If you would like to get a quote for filing your first application at the European Patent Office then please fill in the details of your first application. We will check the details for corrrectness and send you a quote by e-mail based on your information. As the fees of the European Patent Office depend on facts suchas number of pages, number of claims etc. we cannot provied you with a quate if we do not have this information.

A European patent application can be filed

• as the first filing of your invention
• as a subsequent filing of your invention, claiming the priority of an earlier filed application in a country that is a member of the Paris Convention or any member of the World Trade Organization
• as entry into the Regional phase of an earlier filed International application

The European Patent Office is also a Receiving Office for an International Patent application when at least one of the applicants is a national of the EPC Contracting states or as an individaul or a legal person is a resident in an EPC Contracting State. However, such an International application does not immediately give you access to a European Patent. At the end of the International Patent application phase you have to request entry into the regional phase at the European Patent Office.

For filing a European Patent application the applicant has to file

• A request for a European Patent
• A request for a European Search
• Pay the appropriate fees to the Euroepan Patent Office

A request for a European Patent also must include:

• A description of the invention
• At least one patent claim
• Drawings showing the invention (when appropriate)
• An Abstract

We expect that the latter documents are provided by you. In case you have not yet drafted a description of the invention and drafted patent claims, we are happy to provide this service for you on your specific instructions. The time incurred for drafting a patent application will be charged in addition to the fees of filing a patent application through this portal.
